First of all, let's briefly talk about the Department of Medical Engineering. Turkey's first Medical Engineering department was established in 2013 at Karabuk University. Although there are examples of the department abroad, it is a first in Turkey.
The Medical Engineering Department of the materials, devices, tools, artificial organs, systems, and technologies used in health services; It is involved in research and development, design, software, production, and operation. Although it is a newly established department in our country, there are medical engineers working in this field for many years, developing methods and systems for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The Department of Medical Engineering is a highly multidisciplinary department. It includes medicine, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, electrical-electronic engineering, physics, and chemistry, etc. includes studies in many disciplines.

The Department of Medical Engineering aims to train innovative and innovative engineers with high-level knowledge, who can use technology, can produce science, in order to fill the shortage of qualified engineers in the fields of medical products and health technologies in our country.
In the Department of Medical Engineering at Karabuk University, there are currently 3 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, and 4 Dr. instructors. There are 10 lecturers in total, including members. The department continues its classes in the 30% English program. English preparatory education is compulsory for two semesters in the first year, but if your English level is sufficient, you can take the exams and start directly from the department. In the first year, you take basic engineering courses as well as basic courses to get to know the department. In your second year, there is a process where you understand the field of medicine, start to combine health and software, and learn the field of medical equipment. In your third year, you learn the working principles and design of medical devices, image signal processing processes, biology, and genetics. In your last year, you can be in the field for a term under the name of workplace training and experience the learning process in the field for a long time. In addition, you must complete your industrial internship 1 and industrial internship 2 compulsory internships. In your first internship, you can do an internship in production places, and in your second internship, you can do an internship in hospitals. In this way, you dominate the whole process by working with the doctor both in the production and R&D processes and in the hospital.

Studying Medical Engineering at Karabuk University gives a difference in reading in a department in only one university in Turkey. Thanks to the theoretical and applied training given, you have the opportunity to apply both the logic first and then the practice. You can easily communicate with the lecturers in the department and find answers to all your questions. You can work together as the teacher-student communication is very strong. I will leave a few of the dozens of projects done in the department so far as an example.
They returned from the YFYİ competition held at METU Technopolis in 2015 with a victory and an award.
They reached the semi-finals in the TÜSİAD Bu Gençte İş Var competition (2017-2018) and were among the first 12 projects.
At the TUBITAK 2238 Entrepreneurship and Innovation Contest, they won the Samsun Region Winner in the Techno-enterprise category with their PosTRue: Posture and Warning Device Prototype project
In the International Robot Competition held at Karabuk University, they won first place in the free category with their FiveTPM project.
